Privacy Policy

The short version

Modexe is a local-first app. Your notes, documents, tables, and handwriting are stored on your own devices. If you are signed in to iCloud, that content syncs through your own private iCloud (CloudKit) storage, which is tied to your Apple Account and governed by Apple’s privacy policy. Modexe has no servers of its own and no account system, so we cannot see, collect, or access your content. Purchases are handled entirely by Apple. That’s the whole story; the sections below just say it more precisely.

Who we are

Modexe (“the app”) is developed by Modexe, Ltd. (“we”, “us”). If you have any questions about this policy or your data, contact us at support@modexe.com.

The content you create

Everything you make in Modexe — projects, folders, documents, outlines, tables, records, attachments, and Apple Pencil handwriting — is written to local storage on your device. The app is fully functional offline with no account.

If you are signed in to iCloud on your device, this content also syncs to your private CloudKit database, which lives in your personal iCloud storage under your Apple Account. This gives you cross-device sync (for example, the same notes on your iPad and Mac) at no cost. This data resides in Apple’s iCloud infrastructure and is subject to Apple’s Privacy Policy. We, the developer, have no access to your private CloudKit data — we cannot read it, export it, or share it. If you are not signed in to iCloud, or iCloud is unavailable, Modexe simply keeps your content local to that device.

We do not upload your content to any server operated by us, because we do not operate any servers.

Purchases

Modexe offers optional in-app purchases (a one-time purchase and a subscription) that unlock Pro features. All purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store using StoreKit. We never receive or store your payment card details, and your entitlement is tied to your Apple Account. Apple provides us only with aggregated, anonymized sales and subscription reports that do not identify you. Apple’s handling of purchase data is governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy.

Analytics and tracking

Modexe does not include third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking software. We do not build a profile of you, and we do not track you across apps or websites. There are no third-party SDKs collecting your data.

Diagnostics

If you have opted in to sharing diagnostics with developers in your device’s system settings, Apple may share anonymized, aggregated crash and performance data with us to help us fix bugs. This data is provided by Apple, does not identify you, and does not include your content. You can turn this off at any time in your device’s privacy settings. Modexe does not collect diagnostics through any other means.

How your data is stored and retained

Because your content lives on your device and in your own iCloud, you control it. We do not retain copies. To remove your data:

  • Delete individual items inside the app.
  • Delete the app to remove its local data from a device.
  • Manage or remove Modexe’s iCloud data through your device’s iCloud storage settings, or by signing out of iCloud.

Sharing and disclosure

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information, because we do not collect it. We have no data to disclose to third parties. The only third parties involved are Apple (iCloud and the App Store), acting as infrastructure providers under Apple’s own privacy terms.

Children’s privacy

Modexe is a general-purpose productivity app and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the GDPR or the CCPA to access, correct, or delete personal data a company holds about you. Because Modexe does not collect or hold your personal data, there is nothing for us to retrieve or erase on our end — your content is already under your sole control on your devices and in your own iCloud. Changes to this policy

If we change how the app handles data, we will update this page and revise the effective date above. Material changes will also be reflected in the app’s App Store listing.
